Interesting loot distribution

As Moses was obeying the Lord’s command of taking full vengeance for the sons of Israel on the Midianites,

he told the Israelites to send into battle 1,000 men from each of the tribes of Israel

(Num. 31:2, 4).

So 12,000 men armed for battle (v. 5).

And those 12,000 men fought against Midian, as the Lord commanded Moses, and killed every man (v. 7).

In addition, they killed the 5 kings of Midian (v. 8).

The interesting thing is how God told Moses to distribute the loot.

After winning the battle, the Israelites took all the plunder and spoils, including the people and animals

(v. 11).

And God said to Moses, “Divide the spoils between the soldiers who took part in the battle and the rest of the community (v. 27).

In other words, give the half of the spoils to 12,000 men who went to war and the other half to 880,000 people

[1,000,000 (v. 5 in Korean bible) – 12,000 = 880,000] who didn’t go to war

Why did God command Moses the loot to be divided like that?

How could God command Moses to give 50% of the loot to 12,000 soldiers

and another 50% to 880,000 congregations?

Not only that, God told the Israelites through Moses to levy a tax for the Lord

from the men of war who went out to battle,

one in five hundred of the persons and of the cattle and of the donkeys and of the sheep (v. 28),

while to take one drawn out of every fifty of the persons, of the cattle, of the donkeys

and of the sheep, from all the animals,

and give them to the Levites who keep charge of the tabernacle of the Lord (v. 30).

To this extent God supported the soldiers.

So I think it is biblical to support American soldiers like the Republican Party.
