God speaks louder to us when we are in a lot of trouble.

And the indwelling Holy Spirit enables us to receive His word that are heard loudly with joy

(1 Thess. 1:5), but not as the word of men, but for what it really is

so that it performs its work in us who believe (2:13).

In other words, the Holy Spirit enables us to hold onto that promise word of God and cry out to Him

and gives us assurance and conviction that God will surely fulfills it no matter what.

As a result, we become imitators of the Lord in much tribulation (1:6).
