The children of God who really please Father God (Prov. 23:15-16)

keep their hearts on the right path (v. 19). 

And in order to keep their hearts on the right path, they listen to the word of God and are wise (v. 19).

The children of God who really please Father God break up their unplowed hearts (Hos. 10:12) by the word of God,

that is like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces (Jere. 23:29),

in order to direct their hearts on the right path.

They break their hardened hearts again and again.  Also, they let the sword of the Spirit, the word of God (Eph. 6:17)

to pierce their hearts (Acts 2:37) so that they repent and turn to obey the word of God.  

Therefore, they make the word of God their own possession (Ps. 119:56).

And they make the word of God to lead them.  As a result, they direct their hearts on the right path.
