Although they were invited …

Although many were invited to a wedding feast (Mt. 22:2, 4),

they all alike begin to make excuses (Lk. 14:18).

The reason is because they love their own father, mother, wife, children and brothers and sisters (v. 26)

more than the Lord, the King of the heavenly feast (Mt. 22:2).

The reason is because they aren’t carrying their own cross and following the Lord (v. 27).

The reason is because they aren’t giving up all of their possessions (v. 33).

In a word, the reason is because they aren’t true disciples of Jesus (vv. 26, 27, 33).

The reason is because they aren’t chosen (Mt. 22:14).
