Is “wilderness” really a "terrible place"?
The wilderness was a terrible place (Num. 20:5) to the Israelites who were greedy (11:34).
The reason is because there was nothing they wanted in the wilderness (20:5).
However, the wilderness was a good place to Jesus’ disciples who were satisfied with Jesus alone
(Phil. 4:11; 1 Tim. 6:6).
The reason is because in the wilderness they could humbly enjoy every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ (Eph. 1:3)
since there is nothing they desire physically.
