The Son of God who achieved great salvation

through the suffering of death

The Son of God “is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature” (Heb. 1:3).

He is “the author of their salvation” (2:1) who fulfills a great salvation (v. 3),

That is “purification of sins” (1:3), “bringing many sons to glory” (2:10)

Through the sufferings of death (vv. 9, 10) “He might render powerless him who had the power of death,

That is, the devil, and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives” (vv. 14-15).
