The fulfillment of God's promises
that cannot be prevented by human wisdom
The sons of Israel were fruitful and increased greatly, and multiplied, and became exceedingly mighty (Exod. 1:7).
So a new king of Egypt, who said that the sons of Israel were more and mighty than the Egyptians,
wanted to deal wisely with them, “or else they will multiply and in the event of war,
they will also join themselves to those who hate us (the Egyptians), and fight against us
and depart from the land”(vv. 8-10).
So the Egyptians afflicted the Israelites with hard labor (v. 11) and made the two Hebrew midwives
to help the Hebrew women to give birth and put all the sons to death (vv. 15-16).
But the more the Egyptians afflicted the Israelites, the more the Israelites multiplied (v. 12).
Can the humans who think they are acting wisely stop God in fulfilling His promise to His people?
