May God grant us favor and compassion …

The commander of the officials didn’t have to listen to Daniel and his three friends.

Actually, he shouldn’t listen to them in order to save his own life.

But what’s surprising is that he didn’t listen to King Nebuchadnezzar’s word

and didn’t give the king’s choice food and wine to Daniel and his three friends

but listened to Daniel and gave them that they wanted, that were vegetables to eat and water to drink.

The reason is because God granted Daniel favor and compassion

in the sight of the commander of the officials.  (Dan. 1:8-16)
