"this hope as an anchor for the soul"
This hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure,
enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain (Heb. 6:19).
Jesus who went before us and has entered on our behalf
is this hope as an anchor for our soul (v. 20).
This hope Jesus promised “Yes, I am coming quickly” (Rev. 22:20) to us,
the heirs of the promise (Heb. 6:17).
Since the Lord, who cannot lie (v. 18) made the unchanging nature
of His purpose very clear to us of what was promised and confirmed it with an oath (v. 17),
He will certainly come quickly (Rev. 22:20).
Therefore, with this hope we must set an anchor for our soul (v. 19) on the Lord
and His promise word that He is coming quickly,
we should confess “Amen Come, Lord Jesus” (Rev. 20:20) and should head toward that heaven
as we consider the captain Lord’s ship as our refuge and great encouragement (Heb. 6:18).
<Hymn “With Christ as My Pilot”>
(v. 3 & chorus) “If Jesus but speak, in His voice of great pow'r, The billows must sleep
and be still from that hour, And I, at the brightness of dawning, shall be, With Jesus, my Pilot,
safe over the sea. I nothing can fear! I nothing can dread! For Jesus keeps watch here,
and by Him I'm led. My seas may be rough, but when voy'ges are past,
My haven of hope will be heaven at last.”
