The holy God is just.

David who was convinced that

God who struck Nabal (1 Sam. 25:38)

Would also strike Saul (26:10) ...

Since David had done evil in the sight of the Lord (2 Sam. 11:27)

God struck the child of David and the Uriah’s wife Bathsheba (12:15)

So the child eventually died (v. 18).

After all, David not only experienced God striking Nabal and Saul

But also his own child.

The holy God is just.
