As we serve His church, we get distracted by all our preparations (Lk. 10:40).

So we feel like other people left us alone to do all the serving (v.40).

As a result, we are dissatisfied with them.  And we begin to complain even to God in our prayer:

‘Lord, don’t You care that they have left me to do all the serving alone?’ (v. 40).

But the Lord answers and says to us:

“Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary” (vv.41-42a).

The Lord wants us to seat at the Lord’s feet and listen to His word like Mary (v.39).

He wants us to listen to His voice and obey Him.

But we want to do many things for God.  We want to bring a lot of glory to Him.

Although the Lord says to us “but only one thing is necessary” (v.42),

we think that it is necessary for us to do many things for Him.

We cannot be satisfied with “only one thing” (v.42).

Are we serving Him according to His will or according to our will?

“May has chosen the good part” (v.42).

How about us?
