“but I will heal him”
“I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will guide him and restore comfort to him,” (Isaiah 57:18).
What God had seen were His people, the Israelites, committing sins against God. In fact, the Scriptures says that God was angry by their sinful greed (v.17). Thus, He punished them and hid His face in anger (v.17). But even though they were being punished, the Israelites kept on in their willful ways (v.17). They didn’t stop sinning against God. They continued to walk through the path of the iniquity out of their sinful greed even though God disciplined them. But the amazing grace was that even though God had seen their sinful ways, He promised to them “I will heal him” (v.18). Not only that God promised to heal them, He promised them “I will guide him and restore comfort to him” (v.18). Do the Israelites deserve God’s healing, guidance and comfort? Not at all. They deserved more punishment. But God gave them the promised Word that He would heal them, guide them and restore comfort to them. The same promised Word of God is given to you and I. He will heal us, guide us and restore comfort to us even though He has seen our ways of iniquity. May His amazing grace compel us to praise and worship Him!
