Blessed are those who praise the Lord's greatness and exaltation.
[Meditation on the Psalms]
(Conclusion)
The blessed person meditates on God's word day and night. His delight is to hear the Lord's gracious words in the morning. Therefore, he waits for the Lord’s word and runs toward it. He obeys that word and, walking on the path of the righteous, trembles and does not sin. He keeps the word in his heart, avoiding sin and keeping his conduct pure. He overcomes spiritual battles with God's word. Therefore, he makes God's word "his possession." The blessed person is the one who acts upon God's word.
The blessed person, regardless of persecution and adversity, does not rely on people but looks only to the Lord and trusts solely in Him. In fearful situations, when no one can help him, he quietly looks only to God. He casts his burden upon the Lord. Then, he cries out to the God of salvation. He prays urgently to God, saying, "God, hurry and help me." He confesses, "I will pray," while humbly making his requests known to the Lord. He is devoted to prayer, saying, "I will awaken at dawn." He does this because he always hopes in the Lord. The reason is that he believes God will listen to his prayers and answer him. Therefore, he decides, "I will pray all my life." Through the certainty of answered prayer and the realization of God's great love, the blessed person, even in the midst of great sin, is devoted to prayer all his life, knowing that God bestows great grace.
The blessed person gives thanks to the Lord with all his heart. He thanks the Lord, who does not reject the desires of his heart but humbly listens to his wishes, rescues him, and bestows the grace of salvation. He also gives thanks to the Lord, who lifts him up and rewards him according to His righteousness. He gives thanks for the strength and power the Lord gives him. The reason he thanks the Lord is because of the Lord’s eternal love. He knows that the Lord’s thoughts toward him are innumerable. The Lord, who makes everything work together for his good, even through suffering, and who enables him to experience His strength in weakness, holds his soul firmly. Therefore, he thanks the Lord. The blessed person who thanks the Lord in this way will never forget the many blessings that God has poured upon him. He cannot forget them. Thus, he confesses to the Lord, "O Lord, my strength, I love You."
The blessed person makes God his greatest joy. For him, God is "my heaven." He enjoys communion with the heavenly God and lives in God's presence. He is satisfied with the Lord alone and rejoices in the fact that the Lord makes him the greatest in the world. He thanks the God who rejoices in His innumerable thoughts toward him, who delights in his prosperity, who strengthens his path, who empowers him, and who guides him until the end of his life with God's unchanging eternal love. Therefore, he praises God with thanksgiving. He thanks God with all his heart and is devoted to praising the Lord forever. The blessed person praises God while he has breath.
