A Balanced Relationship

Husbands and wives are created to support each other. However, if one depends more on their spouse than on God, a truly healthy family cannot be built. In relying on each other, it is important to maintain balance. If the mutual dependence becomes so excessive that it separates them from God, it is no longer a healthy marital relationship.

There needs to be a certain amount of freedom or space between a husband and wife. The purpose of this free space is to allow both to approach God freely. In other words, while the husband and wife rely on each other, they also need independent space for their spiritual relationship with God.

We can understand this more clearly by visualizing a triangle. If we place God at the top of the triangle, the husband at the left corner, and the wife at the right corner, the husband should respect the personal relationship his wife has with God and give her the space to approach God freely. Similarly, the wife should give her husband the space to build his relationship with God.

When both spouses moderate excessive dependence on each other and prioritize their dependence on God, giving each other the necessary space, they can build a balanced and healthy marriage based on true bond and intimacy.
