The purpose for which God made us one with our wife is to have godly children.

This is God's Word: "I hate divorce, and I hate a man who covers his wife with violence.
So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth."
Nevertheless, among us, there are those who have been unfaithful to the wife

they married when they were young, failing to keep their vows to her
