" I hid my face from you in a moment of anger,

but with everlasting compassion."

Just as one welcomes back a wife

who was abandoned by her husband

and is troubled in heart after marrying young,

the Lord calls us and says to us:

“I abandoned you for a moment,

but with great love, I will welcome you back.

I hid my face from you in a moment of anger,

but with everlasting compassion,

I will have mercy on you
