Satan not only dislikes us knowing the truth (Ref. John 8:32),

but also dislikes us enjoying freedom

through that truth and living truthfully.

Some time later, Satan came again before the Lord with the angels,

and the Lord said to Satan, 'Have you considered my servant Job?

There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright,

a man who fears God and shuns evil.

And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me

against him to ruin him without any reason.'

Satan replied, 'Skin for skin!

A man will give all he has for his own life.

But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones,

and he will surely curse you to your face.'

The Lord said to Satan, 'Very well, then, he is in your hands;

but you must spare his life’

(Job 2:1-6).

When I meditate on these words,

I believe that Satan also observed Job, whom God was watching over.

Satan's purpose was to attack Job,

whom God praised as 'blameless and upright,

a man who fears God and shuns evil,'

in order to make him curse the Lord.

In essence, Satan's goal was to prove

that God's commendation of Job was false.

This is the cunning purpose of the devil, Satan,

who is 'a liar and the father of lies' (8:44).

His crafty scheme was to provoke God into allowing Job

to be harmed 'without any reason.'

However, Job 'still maintains his integrity' (2:3).

Ultimately, we can see that Satan strongly dislikes us Christians preserving the truth.

He dislikes us knowing the truth, enjoying freedom through it

(Ref.: John 8:32), and living truthfully.
