I am saddened to realize that even I do not fully understand

the seriousness of my own sins.

All the people of Judah and Benjamin gathered

together at the square in front of the temple.

They were trembling because of the seriousness of the matter

(the sin of marrying foreign women) and because of the rain

(Ezra 10:9-10).

As I meditate on these words,

I am saddened to realize that even I do not fully understand

the seriousness of my own sins.
