The more the Lord builds up His church ...

When the entire wall of Jerusalem was built up to half its height,

not only did Sanballat and Tobiah become extremely angry

and insult and mock Nehemiah and the people of Judah,

but from then on, the Ammonites and the people of Ashdod

also joined forces and were greatly enraged.

They conspired to attack Jerusalem and create confusion

(Nehemiah 4:1, 7-8).

As I meditate on this passage,

I realize that the more the Lord builds up His church,

the more Satan and his people, who are enemies of the Lord and the church,

will unite to attack us and cause confusion within the church.
