If we don't fasten the first button with God's word,
what will happen to the remaining buttons?
King Solomon built high places for the vile god Chemosh of the Moabites
and the vile god Molek of the Ammonites on the hill east of Jerusalem.
He even built temples for his foreign wives
so they could burn incense and offer sacrifices to their gods
(1 Kings 11:7-8).
As the head of his household, Solomon should have led his wives with God's word
so they would worship only God. Instead, he was led by them
and built temples for them to continue worshiping idols. How did it come to this?
I believe it happened because Solomon disobeyed God's command,
"You must not marry them, for they will turn your hearts to their gods" (v. 2).
