I pray that you will blind our physical eyes

so that we cannot see the fearful situations we have encountered.

Elisha the prophet prayed to God to open the eyes of his servant

so that he could see the hills filled with horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha,

while at the same time, when the Syrian (Aramean) army came to attack,

he prayed for their eyes to be blinded

(2 Kings 6:17-18).

We pray that God opens the eyes of our spiritual insight or faith

so that we may look to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith

(Hebrews 12:2), and that He blinds the eyes of our flesh

so that we do not see the fearful situations we encounter.
