When we earnestly seek the grace of restoration from the God of grace ...

Naaman, the Syrian general who came to the prophet Elisha

after hearing the words of his wife's servant girl from Israel, was furious

and intended to leave after hearing Elisha's message delivered through his servant.

However, after listening to his own servants, he went to the Jordan River

and dipped himself seven times as Elisha had instructed.

Then, as Elisha had said, his leprosy was healed,

and his skin became like that of a young boy

(2 Kings 5:3-4, 12-14).

Naaman, in his pride, had expected the prophet Elisha to come out personally,

touch his wounds, and pray to the Lord his God to heal his disease.

When Elisha merely sent a message telling him

to wash in the Jordan River seven times to be cured, Naaman became furious.

Interestingly, not only did he listen to the words of the servant girl from Israel,

but he also heeded the advice of his own servants.

Was it that Naaman had humility,

or was it that he so desperately wanted to be cured of his leprosy?

In the end, Naaman was healed of his leprosy

by obeying the words of the prophet Elisha.

He received the grace of 'restoration' from God (v. 14).

When we earnestly seek the grace of restoration from our gracious God,

He will hear our pleas in His own way

and surely accomplish His good, pleasing, and perfect will

(Ref.: Romans 12:2).
