Let us engage in spiritual warfare with faith, relying solely on God,
having confidence in the victory of the cross
of our Lord Jesus Christ, and fearing only God.
When the kings west of the Jordan River gathered to fight against the Israelite army led by Joshua,
the Gibeonites from the Hivites felt threatened for their lives
and, in order to find a way to survive, devised a cunning plan
to make a peace treaty with the Israelites (Joshua 9:1, 4, 14, 24).
Reflecting on this passage, I recall how Rahab in Jericho also feared the Israelites
and hid the two spies Joshua sent, and as a result, she and her family were spared (Joshua 2).
When considering this, I believe it is a precious grace
that both Rahab and the Gibeonites had a heart that feared God and His people.
In spiritual warfare, I think it's necessary for us to reach a point
where we feel threatened in our spiritual health and well-being.
And in the face of such threats, our only way to survive is to fear God alone,
rely solely on Him, have confidence in the victory of the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and engage in spiritual battle with faith.
