God’s guidance that we cannot understand with our intellect

Certainly, because God made a covenant with Abraham and gave him the word of promise,

Abraham obeyed in faith and left his homeland, relatives,

and household to go to the land God directed him to, Canaan.

There, he built an altar for God and worshipped Him.

However, a severe famine struck the land of Canaan

(Genesis 12:1-10).

Why did God lead Abraham in this way?

Why did God, through the prophet Elijah,

clearly state to King Ahab that there would be no rain

for several years without the word of God,

and then command Elijah to go to the brook Cherith

where the water would certainly dry up (1 Kings 17:1-3)?

After some time, when no rain fell on the land, the brook dried up as well.

How did God lead Elijah to the widow of Zarephath,

who was preparing to make the last meal for herself and her son? (vv. 7-12).

Isn't God's guidance beyond our understanding?

This reminds me of Proverbs 3:5-6:

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
