We do not focus on our lives.
James 4:14 from the Modern Korean Bible says:
“You do not even know what will happen tomorrow.
What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”
Since we are not just passing mist but valuable to God,
we do not worry about what we will eat or drink or what we will wear for our bodies
(Matthew 6:25, 31).
The reason is that we trust that our heavenly Father knows
that we need all these things (v. 32).
Also, we believe Jesus’ words,
“Whoever wants to save their life will lose it,
but whoever loses their life for me will find it” (Matthew 10:39; Ref.: 16:25).
Therefore, we do not focus on our lives.
We are those who are willing to lose our lives for Jesus and the gospel (Mark 8:35).
We do not consider our lives precious at all in our endeavor
to complete the task we received from the Lord Jesus,
to testify to the good news of God’s grace (Acts 20:24).
