It is also a sin not to marry our children in faith.

Abraham entrusted the task

of seeking a wife for his son Isaac to his oldest servant,

who managed his household possessions.

He instructed the servant,

"Swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and earth,

that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites,

among whom I am living, but will go to my country and my own relatives

and get a wife for my son Isaac"

(Genesis 24:1-4).

Abraham emphasized to his relatives in his homeland

that Isaac must not be taken back there under any circumstances.

The reason for this was Abraham's firm belief in the word of God's promise:

"The Lord, the God of heaven,

who brought me out of my father's household and my native land

and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying,

'To your offspring I will give this land'" (v. 7).

Parents should marry their children in faith in God's promise.

Not acting in faith in marriage of one's children is also a sin

(Romans 14:23).
