For the price of His blood, we received forgiveness of our sins.
Joseph's brothers said to each other that they were being punished
for what they had done to their brother Joseph.
When Joseph begged for his life, they did not listen
even though they saw his suffering.
Therefore, they said to each other that they were now suffering like this
(Genesis 42:21).
At that time, Reuben, the eldest brother, said,
“Did I not tell you not to sin against the child? But you did not listen.
Therefore, you have paid for his blood” (v. 22).
When Jesus cried out loud on the cross,
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46),
God the Father turned away even though He saw and heard
the suffering of His beloved and joyful Son.
Therefore, we are not to be troubled (Ref.: Isaiah 53:5).
We committed sins, but Jesus, who was sinless,
shed His blood and died on the cross,
and we received the forgiveness of our sins
by paying the price of His blood
(Colossians 1:14).
