Because the knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord

is of far greater value.

Before we believed in Jesus,

the earthly things we trusted in, boasted about, and found beneficial,

we have now discarded and considered them all as loss,

because knowing our Lord Christ Jesus is far more valuable.

We have lost everything for the sake of Christ.

We consider all these things as garbage in order to gain Christ

and become completely one with Him

(Philippians 3:3-8).
