Even good deeds must be restrained?
I believe that pastors and elders must be able to control even good deeds.
In particular, we must learn to restrain ourselves from trying hard to do good things,
mistakenly thinking they are the Lord's will when it is our will
(Ref.: 1 Timothy 3:1-2).
We must be rich in good works.
God gives us abundant grace and indescribable gifts.
The purpose of God giving us the abundant gift of grace
is to make up for the shortcomings of the saints
and provide generous relief to the poor.
Therefore, we deeply sympathize with the difficulties of others.
We must be rich in good works because we love to share
(1 Corinthians 9:9, 12, 14-15; 1 Timothy 6:18).
We must be careful to do good.
We must be careful to do good
not only before the Lord but also before others
(2 Corinthians 8:21).
