Elders in the church

The Holy Spirit has appointed elders in the church as overseers among the flock,

so that God's church, which He purchased with His own blood, may be cared for.

Therefore, elders in the church must be vigilant for themselves and for the flock.

The reason is that savage wolves, like false teachers,

will come among them and not spare the flock.

Even from among them, such people will arise

and teach perverse things, enticing believers to follow them.

Therefore, elders in the church must be alert

and remember how the Lord's servant admonished everyone with tears day and night

(Acts 20:17, 28-31).
