Those who seek the will of God ...

If Jesus, in the midst of extreme agony nearing death, had not prayed to God the Father,

"Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done,"

but instead had prayed, "Father, if you are able, please take this cup of suffering from me

according to my will," then when the crowd sent by Judas Iscariot, the chief priests,

and the elders came to arrest Jesus with swords and clubs,

Jesus would have immediately requested more than twelve legions of angels from God the Father.

If Jesus had done so, the Scripture saying,

"But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way"

(Matthew 26:38-39, 47, 50, 53-54), would not have been fulfilled.

Even in extreme agony, praying for God's will to be done is crucially important,

understanding clearly what should not be prayed for,

and earnestly seeking the fulfillment of the Scripture

that surely what is meant to happen will happen.

Those who seek God's will live according to God's will (the Scripture)

and die according to God's will (the Scripture).
