The Lord does this for our faith.

Upon hearing that Lazarus, whom Jesus loved, was sick,

Jesus remained where he was for two more days

before returning to Judea after Lazarus had died.

From the perspective of Lazarus's sisters, Mary and Martha,

they likely wished earnestly for Jesus to come quickly

and heal their brother so he wouldn't die.

However, Jesus did not do so.

The reason was to strengthen the faith of his disciples

(John 11:1-15).

For the sake of our faith,

the Lord does not always respond immediately to our earnest prayers as we hope,

but instead, He acts according to His will, in His time, and in His own way.
