The legacy of mixed faith?

The legacy of faith that parents who believe in Jesus

want to leave to their children may not be a faith that purely reveres only God.

Just as the Israelites claimed to fear God

but also revered and served the gods of other nations according to their customs,

we may also claim to fear God while worshipping and serving money in the ways of the world.

This is not truly fearing God in the sight of God.

The reason is that in the sight of God, we are not obeying His commandments.

What God commands us is to "Fear only the LORD your God"

and to "Keep the decrees and commands I gave you; do not follow other gods"

(2 Kgs. 17:27-41).
