Spiritual battle in the realm of thought

We must fight and overcome in the realm of thought with the Word of God.

To do so, we must listen to and hear the Word of God.

And we must keep and obey the Word of God that we have heard.

However, like the people of Israel,

we are forsaking the law of God

(Jere. 6:19).

We are not behaving according to the Word of God (v. 16).

We are not listening to the Word of God (v. 19).

No, we are not even able to hear the Word of God (v. 10).

We consider the Word of God's reproof as an insult to us (v. 10).

Instead, we delight in hearing the false words of the false prophets saying,

"Peace, peace" (v. 14).

In the realm of our thoughts,

we are bringing forth evil like a spring brings forth its water (v. 7).

We are bringing forth evil thoughts of greed and falsehood (v. 13).

Yet, despite this, we are not even slightly ashamed;

our faces do not even blush (v. 15).

As a result, we encounter obstacles (v. 21).

We encounter calamity (v. 19).

What should we do?

We must receive the instruction of God (v. 8).

We must listen to the reproof of God (v. 10).

And we must forsake our greed and falsehood (v. 13).

And we must be ashamed of the abominations we have committed (v. 15).

And we must look for the ancient paths, where the good way is,

and walk in it (v. 16).

When we do so,

our souls will find the true peace that God gives (v. 16).
